Riding lessons

Learn to Ride at Butcher Piece Farm

Private lessons for children, beginners, and nervous or returning riders — in a calm, supportive environment on the High Peak.

Riding at your own pace

We offer private one-to-one riding lessons tailored entirely to you. Whether you are sitting in the saddle for the very first time, returning after a long break, or working through a loss of confidence, our lessons are built around your needs — not a fixed syllabus.

Sessions take place in our fully floodlit, all-weather arena at Butcher Piece Farm, so lessons go ahead whatever the weather. Our horses are calm, well-schooled, and chosen to match each rider.

Who our lessons are for

Children & young riders

A safe, encouraging introduction to horses and riding for children of all ages. We focus on building confidence, correct position, and a genuine love of horses from the very first session.

Nervous & returning riders

If anxiety or a long gap away from horses is holding you back, you are in the right place. We work at whatever pace feels right, with no pressure and no judgement — just steady, patient progress.

Complete beginners

Never ridden before? No problem. We start from the very basics — handling, grooming, and mounting — so you build a solid foundation before you ever pick up the reins.
